Tone & Color

color for skin tone

Wearing the right color for your skin tone is an important key to enhance your undertones. Complimenting your skin tone with the color of your outfit, makeup or accessories can create a breathtaking impact!

I have created a quick pictorial representation to help you understand the basic colors that work for your skin tone. The various skin tones are Very Fair. Fair, Medium/Wheatish, Dark. 4 colors have been chosen, specially keeping the current trends in mind.

Always make sure that the color of your outfit does not end up making you look pale.

Colors like Black, white, grey work with all skin tones and you can never go wrong with them. Add a pop of color and you get your favorite look that brightens your skin tone.

Gingham Style

022615-be-my-baby-slide There was a time when checks and crosses were associated with only table covers, curtains and mats, but now, fashion trends have evolved to such an extent that they work perfectly for an outfit. Balance your ghingham print with a basic top or a plain color belt or bag to create an interesting outfit for almost any occasion. Designers like Altuzarra and Micheal Kors have inspired me so much that I had to update my blog about how stylish this print looks. A blend of subtle color contrasts, sheer fabrics, neutral combinations and poise, makes the gingham print a must-have in your wardrobe. 54abffe0cfd4b_-_elle-spring-2015-trends-gingham-oscar-de-la-renta-02-xln Oscar De La Renta Working with this print gives room to a variety of interesting concepts that will never go out of fashion. You could pair up a gingham print shirt with a lace skirt like in the picture above or you could just tone it down with a pair of skinny jeans or neutral color trousers. The difference between Style and Fashion

Have you ever been a situation wherein you like something particular on Fashion TV and you are suddenly confused whether that piece would suit you or not? It is a very natural thing that happens to all of us — Torn between ones own style and the fashion world. we might not admit it many times, but the number of things we end up buying either fall into the “trends” or it is something you saw on your favorite celebrity at one of the recent red carpet events.

Lets get to the point – Fashion and Style are two completely different things!

Fashion-Style_StyleQuotient

It is important to understand that liking something that suits you and your body type is a priority over something you see on a model. For example, if you are slightly heavier on your hips (which is, in India, a very common variation in women) it is always advisable to wear clothes that camouflage your variation. Wearing a short top with a flared out skirt or pants is a big NO NO for such body types.

So when you spot something nice at your favorite store, always try it on and see if that one really suits you. It doesn’t always have to be “IN”, it can also be something thats been there for a while.

Fashion is vast. It is like a massive wardrobe that belongs to the fashion world. All you have to do is pick out a few elements that you could wear differently and make it your own style rather than following something you see on TV.

It is always good to derive your style from fashion. Who doesn’t! but the whole deal is to do with making it fit your personality and your body type. Style is self-creation. You create your own version of “fashion” by using elements differently. There is always room to enhance style and make it something that you own rather than keeping it stagnant over the years.

They say, time flies, people change, style changes. As the years pass its more about how you carry yourself at each stage.. and definitely not fitting into lady gaga’s pants.

The “VPL” problem

You must be thinking what on earth is a VPL. Well, it’s every woman’s worst enemy… And some men relate to that too. A VPL (Visible Panty Line) is a big BIG image breaker. It ruins your entire look. Your favourite white pants look like a disaster and your butt doesn’t look as shapely as it should.

Image

So, here are a few pointers to keep in mind before you decide to wear that pencil skirt or fitted dress :

Image

– underwear should fit properly and not be too tight for your size as that can look terrible.

– boy shorts work well for many people. It provides full coverage and gives a smooth look.

– for a roundish figure and to conceal the love handles, high waist numbers work best. Make sure the panty fits just right so that it’s not too tight neither is it too loose.

– Choose the right fabric! It is important to be as comfortable as you wish but it is also important to take care of your dressing to look and feel confident. Fabrics like spandex and elastic don’t always work but there are seamless panties available in various blends that fit the bill. Cotton being the most comfortable and safest, is definitely a must have in everyone’s wardrobe but doesn’t always look good when the fitted clothes are worn. Cotton is usually worn with regular fitting and loose clothes, for example, linen pants or palazzos.

– choose the right colour depending on your outfit. For example, if you are wearing white or peach, don’t act bold and go for a contrast colour inside. Your idea of being elegant goes right down the dirty drain. It’s always advisable to match your inners with your skin tone when wearing light colours.

– wearing a thong is the safest way to avoid VPLs but also not very comfortable for many women.

– another alternative could be wearing a body suit or a “tummy tucker” as we call it to avoid not only the VPL but also the unwanted bulges. Yes, why do you think some of the celebrities look so slick in their fitted gowns? You just got your answer if you didn’t know that all this while.

A tummy tucker starts from the higher waist right till the thighs depending on your requirement 🙂

– always try on your fitted clothes before buying them. See if you are comfortable with the choice of your inner wear. It’s not a very nice feeling to wear something that doesn’t enhance your image.

“Co.Ye.Mi”

So browsing through the latest stuff showcased by different brands and designers I decided to express the energizing blend of Coral, Yellow And Mint via my all new “Co.Ye.Mi” story.

The colors remind me of pretty cupcakes! however weird the connection is, I love how these colors blend so well like the ingredients of fancy cupcakes that look so appealing that you feel sorry for eating them. Yep those make you put on weight. Hah! but nah, these colors only allow me to indulge more in some retail therapy.. which, allows a little figure flattering rather than weight gaining.

Each shade of pink expresses love, sex appeal and romance.
Each shade of Mint expresses peace, harmony and calmness.
Each shade of Yellow expresses happiness, fun and a bit of naughtiness.

Putting all these colors together in your own way can actually make you feel a bit of every element that the color brings out.

These colors work well together as well. Either you wear all of them without making yourself look like a fruity bath or you can just use one or two colors without being too boring. It is entirely your choice! Go for the extremes at the same watch your step.

I believe that the Co.Ye.Mi works well this summer. Try it out!

Now choose your color combinations and go eat a cupcake 😀

Rules of Wearing A Tie

The tie is an accessory that can make or break a man’s look. It all depends on how it is worn. Whether you wear it to work or for a  formal occasion, the beauty of the tie comes out depending on the color, texture, fabric or pattern that you choose.

Image  Image

Below are a few rules to consider when you plan to sport that stunning tie!

– The tip of your tie should just about touch your belt line. A little below and it will look down right weird! Sometimes, the tie can be worn a little above the belt line but definitely not too short that it ends up looking cropped.

– The thin ties are TOTALLY IN! They look modern and are more stylish than the broad ones. The broad ties are more old school and work well for the oldies.

– The traditional tie-knot is called the ‘four-in-hand’. Works wonders with any shirt or suit style. Master the art and you are good to go! Have a look at the picture below to have an idea.

Image

– Avoid the silly disney characters and bizarre patterns as they do not suit any look or personality. Go for plain colors and prints that work well with almost all your suits and shirts.

– The Tie Bar – Looks its best when worn the right way. Usually its worn between the 3rd and 4th button on your dress shirt.

– Match your ties well. This is important and can be a little challenging for some people. All you have to do is, pair cotton ties with cotton fabric shirts, a bright color tie with a subtle color shirt, a texture over a plain, etc.

– A finally, the bow ties! They are very much in fashion. Wear them with a dress suit and with an Oxford shirt, pullover and chinos if it’s more fun. Try making one yourself or just go for the readymade ones.

Many men have a good collection of ties.

Everyone has different choices.

The tie is a very flexible accessory for any occasion.

It adds class and pumps up the sex appeal!

Get more familiar with these rules and look “puuurfect”!

Happy Days! 🙂

Color of the Year 2014!

Image

Annnd Voila! The “Radiant Orchid” has been chosen as the Pantone color of the year 2014!

Its beautiful, its eccentric, its got a whole lot of bliss oozing out of the palette which I’m sure many of us are going to incorporate in our style, wardrobes, home interiors and maybe even just a purple car! 😀

“An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” as mentioned on http://www.pantone.com

This particularly excites me because colors make me happy and they do bring out character and personality in a very vivid way. I bet the Radiant Orchid is going to be one really HOT selling color this new year and trust me, the different tones and shades in that palette are going to be put to use in a very innovative manner whether it is in Cosmetics, Clothing, Interior Design OR Automobile Design. You just never know 😉

The color has already been used on the Red Carpet, and even some designers have already incorporated it in their Spring 2014 Collection! The Radiant Orchid works well on both men and women. Infact, it highlights the personal color that each of us have because of the blend of cool and warm undertones of red and purple.

When it comes to beauty, shades of purple, pink and red work super as lipsticks specially on most skin tones. They can also work as simple nuetrals for work or for a casual brunch with your girlies. Nail paints as well as rouges will work wonders if worn the right way.

And when we talk about Interiors, it could be Home, Office, Restaurants or even Stores! The color can be put to use subtly making your interiors look stunning and oh so 2014!!

Lets give it up for — Radiant Orchid
