The difference between Style and Fashion
Have you ever been a situation wherein you like something particular on Fashion TV and you are suddenly confused whether that piece would suit you or not? It is a very natural thing that happens to all of us — Torn between ones own style and the fashion world. we might not admit it many times, but the number of things we end up buying either fall into the “trends” or it is something you saw on your favorite celebrity at one of the recent red carpet events.
Lets get to the point – Fashion and Style are two completely different things!
It is important to understand that liking something that suits you and your body type is a priority over something you see on a model. For example, if you are slightly heavier on your hips (which is, in India, a very common variation in women) it is always advisable to wear clothes that camouflage your variation. Wearing a short top with a flared out skirt or pants is a big NO NO for such body types.
So when you spot something nice at your favorite store, always try it on and see if that one really suits you. It doesn’t always have to be “IN”, it can also be something thats been there for a while.
Fashion is vast. It is like a massive wardrobe that belongs to the fashion world. All you have to do is pick out a few elements that you could wear differently and make it your own style rather than following something you see on TV.
It is always good to derive your style from fashion. Who doesn’t! but the whole deal is to do with making it fit your personality and your body type. Style is self-creation. You create your own version of “fashion” by using elements differently. There is always room to enhance style and make it something that you own rather than keeping it stagnant over the years.
They say, time flies, people change, style changes. As the years pass its more about how you carry yourself at each stage.. and definitely not fitting into lady gaga’s pants.
