Rules of Wearing A Tie
The tie is an accessory that can make or break a man’s look. It all depends on how it is worn. Whether you wear it to work or for a formal occasion, the beauty of the tie comes out depending on the color, texture, fabric or pattern that you choose.
Below are a few rules to consider when you plan to sport that stunning tie!
– The tip of your tie should just about touch your belt line. A little below and it will look down right weird! Sometimes, the tie can be worn a little above the belt line but definitely not too short that it ends up looking cropped.
– The thin ties are TOTALLY IN! They look modern and are more stylish than the broad ones. The broad ties are more old school and work well for the oldies.
– The traditional tie-knot is called the ‘four-in-hand’. Works wonders with any shirt or suit style. Master the art and you are good to go! Have a look at the picture below to have an idea.
– Avoid the silly disney characters and bizarre patterns as they do not suit any look or personality. Go for plain colors and prints that work well with almost all your suits and shirts.
– The Tie Bar – Looks its best when worn the right way. Usually its worn between the 3rd and 4th button on your dress shirt.
– Match your ties well. This is important and can be a little challenging for some people. All you have to do is, pair cotton ties with cotton fabric shirts, a bright color tie with a subtle color shirt, a texture over a plain, etc.
– A finally, the bow ties! They are very much in fashion. Wear them with a dress suit and with an Oxford shirt, pullover and chinos if it’s more fun. Try making one yourself or just go for the readymade ones.
